Hello my name is “Explicit Pictures” !

Today, it’s our big day ! Our debut album “Explicit Pictures” is OUT in USA & CANADA & FRANCE. And we’re almost crying!

According to us, every song is like a picture: an attitude, a thought of a precise and defined moment. It’s like freezing a moment, an epoch that we can’t catch and is already escaped that we are trying to analyze with our teasing « enfant terrible » eyes.

It’s like plenty of moods compacted in an album. It goes from laugh to desperation, from airiness to deep riot, from indignation to resignation.

Explicit Pictures - WE ARE ENFANT TERRIBLE

We love the “purity” of this unlikely instrument -the Nintendo Gameboy, that it can be so smooth and sometimes so aggressive. We didn’t choose to love this sound, we’ve been raised with it. From 6-12 years old, the only music we listened to was video games music.

It was recorded and mixed by Thomas Fourny (the Guitarist) at his home studio in Lille (in his attic).

We sincerely hope you’ll enjoy listening to it as much as we had for making it !

We might have been as depressed as a manager without a Blackberry if we have directly been back home after the SXSW…

But Halle-fucking-lujah, we had the great idea to spend more days in the best US city for crazyness : Los Angeles (The Angels, in English / Les Anges, en Français) !

So we made it like honorable american tourists do : Huge SUV, Disneyworld Hotel, “Grano.L.A”, Juicy Burgers and shooting stupid explicit pictures on Hollywood Bd !

We performed 3 gigs there and our new friend Jeremiah Alexis aka Urban Nomad just said it : ” great stage presence, great sound”. He also thinks Clo “is like a french Debi Harry for reals!”. Isn’t cool ?

OK. So what’s next ? Spreading our music in Europe and working on our new debut album release “Explicit Pictures” : on April 5th (US & FR) // April 28th (UK & GE)

Sun is sunnier, burgers are bigger, lol is loooooler: that’s the way it is in Texas and America. Sun + tattoos + weird drinks + burgers + good shows = SXSWicked!

We were one of the 1,900 bands to play at SXSW this year and we are so hugely proud! We performed at French Bureau Export, Swan Dive and Cheers Up Charlie. The shows were crowded and public gave us really good energy which made us forget the heat and tiredness. And with all the craziness, Cyril got crazy too (as usual) during our shows. Our label, Last Gang Records, had to send an “apology to the SXSW gear rental people for breaking a bass drum, drum seat, and a few other things throughout the week”.

In this kind of musical carnival freak show, we also met awesome artists! Here are a little bunch of performances we managed to remember (black holes are a part of a respectable SXSW trip).

Day 1: Our NYC Day

The Death set - our new electro Punk buddies from NYC, just signed on Ninja Tune. With 3 gigs per day and the best devotion ever for turning every gig into a riot, they deserve the medal of endurance!
Theophilus London - a great new comer in Classy Cheesy Sexy Old Fashioned (but not so old fashioned) Hip Hop! Even better with the hundred free beers (per person) of the Windish Agency Party!

Day 2: Our Rock’n'Roll Day

The Zoobomns - they are the most savage rock’n'roll band, affected by the recent events in their home country of Japan, playing as if it was the last time, exploding the walls with their wildness.
Queens Of The Stone Age, The Black Angels & Jay Mascis - gig of fame! Do we really have to explain how brilliant it was?

Day 3: Our Day Without An Adjective

!!! - with their contagious groovy insanity, everybody got dancing in the sunset. There are no words to say how perfect the bond between them (the band) and us (the public) was.
The Bewitched Hands - even if we’ve seen them at least a thousand times, our greatest French friends made it perfect, as usual!

Day 4: Our Cheers Up Charlie Stage Day

Too tired to walk around much, we stuck at the place we played. Luckily there was no need to move - the All Stars Music gig was there!

Dan Deacon - drove us crazy and became definitely our fashion geek icon.
Austra - blew up our mind with songs as beautiful as their make-up.
- washed our hearts and eyes

So what could we say more to close this chapter than « ANYTHING LESS THAN EXTRAORDINARY IS A WASTE OF MY TIME », Spin magazine or Fake DIY said it’s definitely THE theme song for SXSW FESTIVAL 2011.

We are so OK with that
